Funny
Can't think! So frightened!
Wait, what's this in my pocket?
Three guesses? What luck!

by Gilthalion

The Judges' Serious Haikus

The Barrow-Wight
faint icy star-shine
standing stones echo voices
caught beneath the earth
tall grey kings of stone
rushing waters pass them by
mighty argonath

golden hair flowing
hidden maiden's grey eyes shine
witch king's bane revealed

Gilthalion
My power constrained.
Mortal choices countervail.
Little time is left.

The foul Dwimmerlaik!
Deathless to the hand of man?
I am a woman!

Hammer strikes anvil.
Smaug must pay for dwarvish deaths!
The anvil resounds.

Underhill
Golden sunlit wood
To be and has been converge
Eternity ends
'Ash nazg,' he utters
'Tra-la-la-lally' silenced
Dark days lie ahead<

Doom, doom, doom echoes
Ancient evil battles Grey
Hope is born from death

Sharkű
Giant of silver
golden rustles high above
the Shire breathes

As green defeats white
bright shine of sun on hemlock
fairest light dances

ai! calaloté
i laurelindórenan
aldaron, mellyrn!

The Judges' Funny Haikus

The Barrow-Wight
black chasm gaping
evil wakens with a splash
young fool of a took
foamy pool of gold
liquid power filling veins
oh! fourteen-twenty

under shapeless felt bag
over star-lit country roads
eavesdropper samwise

Gilthalion
Can't think! So frightened!
Wait, what's this in my pocket?
Three guesses? What luck!

Wizards argue on high.
Dangling rag tag is amazed!
Look out!!!!! Ooooh! What's this?

One more thing to do!
I'll send it off tomorrow,
or the day after...

Underhill
Eyes of red fire
Black mantle; bone-chilling voice
Witch-king don't hurt me!

Hobbits caper nude,
Bombadil cries, 'Come hoy now!'
What would Gandalf say?

An ugly fool mocks
Red missile like lightning strikes
Waste of an apple

Sharkű
Ancient realm's Master
Songs of power echo far
Ring-a-dong dillo!
A gnarled old hobbit
gentle touch in spell-dark air
sneaking! Yes, sneaking!

Stench is dumb in here
pendulum swings at ceiling
Ufthak's eyes blinking
